that up until last night 2831 ex-service
men entitled to benefits under the so
called bonus law had filed applications
for cash contributions, while 2682 ap
plicants expressed a preference for
loans. Captain Harry Brumbaugh of
the world war veterans state aid com
mission, in a statement denied that he
had advised ex-service men to employ
attorneys to nsslst them in making
applications for caBh or loans. The
big thing for all ex-service men to do,
Cnptaln Brumbaugh said, Is to file
tholr applications as soon as possible.

The public market of this morning
while a good one, was not equal to tho
markets of the past few Saturdays. A
feature of today's market were ground
chorries and .homo grown potatoes
from the Prospect district. The ground
cherries were sold almost as quickly
aa they reached the market, as this
delicious fruit Is very jiopulnr with
many people. A ton of them could be
sold were they brought to the city.
