MEnFORD ADVISED
10 TAKE LUNCH
When nil Jackson county pours out
on tile Fourth of July to nnrtieipnte
in the county parade nrtd tin- eelehra
tfon to lie staged ;it Ashland, they are
H-oinf? to take in what will wohahly
he the greatest demonstration and
program ever held in Su ut hern Ore
gon. .Tliis is assured as nil plans have
been virtually completed ' the un
1 1 ring; committee. From the moment
the parade begins, to assemble nt !)
oYlock until the orchestras play
"Home Sweet Home" at midnight
there will b something doing. So
many events have lnjcn crammed in
that little Willie. Sister Susie. Mother
and 1 1 rand pa will have a hard lime
to see everything. The p nigra m h
so diversified that there will be plenty
of entertainment for all ages.
One of the most Important fea
t tires of the day will lie t he parade
in which every section of Jackson
county will he represented, with
floats, pedest rians, equestriennes and
automobiles handsomely decorated.
The parade wilt be a brilliant color
ful spectacle.
The ld;ey hand of Medford is com
ing in full regalia and will be well
worth seeing and hen ring. Tills is
one of tile best trained hands in the
state and will put on some novel fea
tures that will delight the crowds;
The Klks will have their syncopat
ed band participate, and there wilt
also he several other unique musical
features for which a special prise is
being awarded.
When you prepare to come to Ash
land on the Fourth the wisest thing
foi- you to do will be to nrrange for
a basket party so be sure and tiring
your lunch as t he restaurants and
lunch rooms will lie overcrowded on
tbut day. All the InOicaUonu point
to the fact that Ashland never hns
hod such a crowd as wll! lie here on
the l''oitrth of. July this year.
K very body, in the county seems to
be planning their trip to Ashland on
the Fourth and enthusiasm Is running
high.
Parking places liave been arrang
ed for the floats after the parade,
but during the parade there will be
no parking permitted on Fast Main
street from the ttoulevard to the
Plaza, and on North Main street from
the Plaza to Water street. Parking
will be permitted on ail other streets
in the city.
WHAT ABOUT A
F
The Salem merchants put on a "Big
rintgaln Day" Friday with unusual suc
cess, the city being filled with people
many of whom traveled MO or 111 miles
to take advantage of the bargains of
fered. Fifty merchants run one spec
ial bargain !;r Hint day, each one
offering a different article, all in one
big three-page ad. There were many
other bargains offered by the mer
chants in separate ads. As a result jf
the huge success the sales will occur
twice a month.
Corvallis and other up-state papers
have made 'huge successes of those
sales, the people always responding.
Medford merchants should have a
meeting at once and put on a united
campaign of this kind. -They have done
it successfully before. The association
has not had a meeting for hoiuo time
but should have one al. once and get
busy.
