counties than Lane, county and many
of tho legion posts will attend in large
bodies.
Motoring will be tho most popular
route to tho convention, although a
reduced faro of one and one-half fare
will' be In effect in all points in Ore

The city attorney of lOugene will

gion and Iten W. Olcott, governor of
Oregon.
It is believed the convention will
give a new expression on the Japan
ese tmeslioii, which is of vital import
to the Pacific coast states. Many
posts of the legion have drafted reso
lutions for presentation to the conven
tion with reference to aliens and im-nilgratiun.
PRINCE OF WALES IS
LAUNCESTON, Cornwall, Eng.,
June Picturesque feudal ceremonies
of 600 years ago were revived here
when the Prince of Wales, who is
also Duke of Cornwall, paid a visit to
the old-time capital of his duchy.
Launceston has been a royul borough

sentation of vont and "offerings of
fealty in kind, according to ancient
custom. The mayor presented to the
prince 100 shillings and one. pound of
popper on a silver dish.

hounds. According to ancient usage,
they should be pure white, but the
nearest obtainable, approach was a

spear, a faggot of wood, a pair of
white gloves and a rose.
Strangest of all these curious terms

men clerks and not enough women

situation reported today by the Illi
nois F'ree Employment bureau which
gaVe the following reasons for the
condition :
Women don't cock their f'ot on the
desk and criticize the boss;, they don't
waste 30 minutes a day scanning the
sport pages: they don't leave the of
fice at intervals to smoke a cigarette;
their relatives are never Indisposed;
they do not gather In groups to gos
