on tho. Stock Exchange, Further de
pression seemed to result largely from

tion were. not lacking. Oils, Including
Standard Oil of New Jersey and Mex
ican Petroleum lost two to five points.
Stools and equipments, notably Cru
cible, Harvester preferred, New York
nirbrake and General .Electric fell one
to throe and a half and motors, sugars
mid. .tobaccos., forfoltod .one to three
points. Coalers were heaviest of the
rails, declining ono to three points but
Southern Pacific preferred showed
conspicuous strength. The closing was
heavy. Sales approximated 400,000
shares.

who Is at the Sunnyslde doing some
sewing and spent the night and the

tho place of E. -V. Peterson, the pres
ent mall contractor on the Eagle
Point-Trail-Persist route, for tho time

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kling of Lake
creek were also business callers and
accommodated our sheriff by taking
the ballot box for Lake Creek up for
him. .
John Allen of Derby, ono of the
prominent stock men and farmers of
that section, was a business cailer on
his way to Medford Saturday.
Mrs. J. Kashon of Climax, was also
a business caller Saturday. t
Ell Dahack was supplying tho citi
zens of our town with beef Saturday
morning.
Mrs. Chauu'cey Florey who has been
spending some time In Santa Barbara.
Calif., has returned to visit her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lewis.
Thomas Riley, Jr., of Medford, son
of ono of our prominent farmers and
dairy men, called on the Sunnysldc
Saturday evening. Ho was accompan
ied by his uncle, Watt Hurst, ono of
our Jackson county raised boys, in
order that we might renew acquain
tance. Ho Is at present in business in
Spokane, Wash. Ho has been gone
from hero for several years and called
to visit his sister, Mrs. Thomas Riley
of Wellon, on his way to California on
business: He' has a brother, Frank
Hurst, living In Jacksonville, that Jic
was also visiting. r
. Mr. and Mrs. Bean of New York,
accompanied by Henry Rosenborg of
Medford, were among the dinars Sun
day. Mr. and Mrs. Bean are travoling
in their-auto.-1 They have already
crossed the continent and are on their
way back, simply traveling for pleasure.-
They aro prepared to camp and
are taking their tinio enjoying life.
Mrs. F. M. Stewart and her son and
wife, Mr. and Mrs. Win. Perry were,
also diners Sunday and so wero Mr.
and Mrs. Chris Bergsman who livo on

daughters and grandchildren. She said
she had all of her children with her
except ono daughter and that she was

Mrs. Arthur Brown and three chil
dren called Monday morning at tho
Sunnysldo to rest a while as Mr.
Brown was looking after the interests
of the Orcgonian. '

George Nichols, Jr., our. sheriff, Char-,i

Lake City and a stranger. Charley
and Mr. , Owen , wore just returning
from Climax whore they had been" to
deliver the ballot box for that precinct

Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Coleman of Lake
Creek and Mrs. C-. M. Jones of Medford
wero among the business callers Mon
day. They had been to Medford on
business and were just returning.
Mrs. Jones was a friend of the family
and was going out home with them
to enjoy the mountain air and the
company of her friends, Mr. and Mrs.
Coleman. ,
Charley Humphrey, of Derby, Is be
ginning to make his regular trips into
our town with stovo wood. Ho expects
to supply a number of families with
wood for the coming winter. ,

place that there wero quite a number
of our citizens went from here last
Saturday to attend the funeral of one
of our departed heroes, Benj. F. Mor
gan, who gave his lifo for tho good of
the world and in this connection wish
to extond tho thanks of the bereaved
family to their many friends for thoir
kindness, sympathy and for the floral
offerings.
