"Dutch Pete" Strauff, who with
Frank Kodat wan sentenced to five
years at Salem for attempted robbei-y
of the Hank of Uold Hill last April, has
been placed in charge of keeping the
county jail clean, and according to
Jailer .Moses Is doing a good job of it.
An appeal will he taken to the su
preme court by attorneys for the two
men. Strauff blames his prison record
for his conviction. "If I was guilty, 1
wouldn't care," said Pete Thursday,
"but I'm innocent and don't want to lio
to prison for something I never done."
The two men also deny that either of
of them ever served in the Arizona
prison. Strauff served in the .Montana
and Oregon prisons, and Kodat one
year in the Washington rcformatoi'y
at Monroe, Wash.

ATHENS, June 10. Many lives are
believed to have been lost In the sink
ing of the Greek steamship Boubou
llna which struck a mine and foun
dered in the Aegean. The Greek bat
tleship Lemnos has arrived at Piraeus
from Smyrna with two passengers
who were picked up. Details of the
disaster are lacking.
PARIS, June 10. -The mail packet
Boiiboullna which has been sunk in
the Aegean had 240 passengers on
board, beside a cr,ew of 25, says an
Athens dispatch to the Radio agency.
The Boiiboullna was formerly the
steamer Coronilla. She was built a'
Newcastle, Englnnd, In 1878 and was
owned by J: G. Bouboulls. of Spezla.
She was 258 fuet long nnd had a beam
of 32 Eee't. Her registered tonnage
was 1312.
