Dq Mille Film Has Brilliant Cast
A breath-taking story and a brilliant
cast are tho combination promised in
William Do Mille's latest picture,
"Midsummer Madness" coming to the
Pago theatre for four days commenc
ing today.
Tho story was adapted fronuCosmo
Hamilton's novel, "His Friend and His
Wife." Mr. Hamilton is well known
as tho author of "Scandal," "The
Blindness of Virtue," and many othor
successful plays and stories.
Tho plot centers around two young
married couples who are close friends.
One of tho wives Is so lavish with the
outward expressions of her love for
her husband that he becomes a lilt.
tired of her. Now that slio Is so com
pletely won, he longs for new fields to
conquer. His friend's wlfo, on the
other hand , is blessed with a husband
who Is more interested In business
than In her; she craves romance. So
the over-loved husband nnd his
Iriend's under-loved wife are attracted
to each- other. Id a moment of folly
they commit an indiscretion that near
ly ruins four lives.
The cast of "Midsummer Madness"
includes such sterling screen players
as Lois Wilson, Jack Holt, Llla Lee
and Conrad Nagel. The picture has
been 'sumptuously produced and

"Reputation," the newest siiier

j tor four days Is heralded as a di'auiHtlc
thunderbolt ot tremendous power.
From nil accounts. "Roputittion" nut
only proves its right to follow her
first two successes, but many roviow-oi-s
have declared it to bo by far tho
most iiou-criul drama projected on tlio
screen in m:uiy months.
Tlio most interesting feature of
ilppuiutinu" is the fact that It per
mits Priseillu Dean to play a dual tide
mother and daughter both possess
ing marked histrionic genius, hut dif
fering In every other eharacteriallc.
The mother Is u.wouiuu who has vio
lated social code and sunk to moral
''tilths in inverse ratio to her rlso in
fame nnd popularity. The daughter.
on the other hand, raised in a county
asylum, blooms liko a violet in a
swamp, and grows up to pure and
charming young womanhood. The
mother lias forgotton the daughter's
existence, whilo the child has nover
known her mother's Identity. Fate
brings tho two togother under circum
stances that try their souls and make
for- big dmmatic situations.
Tlio story, under tho title of "False
Colors," first appeared in a magazine
as the work of lOdwIua I.cvln. Tho
cast includes Nllcs Welch, Spotlls-
