done in the wheat market. Opening
quotations, which ranged from 'A to
lc higher with July at $1.37 to $1.37,
were followed by a moderate reaction
and by an ascent higher than before.
Corn, after opening quarter to c
higher, including July at G7 to .G7'ic
eased down, a little and then scored
another advance.
Oats started off to Vic higher,
July 42 M to 42 y,c and made slight
general gains later.
Provisions Bagged owing to absence
of any special demand.

Miss Pearl Ti mm oils is visiting' .with
her parents, having recently return
ed from the vicinity of Yoncelia
where she completed the teaching of
a successful term of school.
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. McCoy went up
to Prospect Saturday and returned
Sunday accompanied by Mrs. II. E.
Peyton, who will visit with home folks
for a few days.
Miss Cosette Tetherow finished
teaching a very satisfactory term of
school at Agate last Tuesday. The
next day the school children accom
panied by Miss Tetherow und a few
visitors went to Bybeo bridge, where
they enjoyed a fine picnic dinner.
Miss Irma Hamilton and Miss Ruby
Tlmmons of this district finished their
high school courses this year. , Miss
Hamilton graduated from the Medford
school and Miss Tlmmons from the
Central Point school.
' .Miss Fay Beebe Is home now, hav
ing just returned ' from Ashland,
where she has been staying with her
sister Mrs. Head, and attending the
Ashland high school.
Some of the first cutting of al
falfa was slightly damaged by the
rain, but this will be probably more
thnn offset by the increased second
crop, because of the udded moisture.
The Canal company is having!, a
large modern hay barn built on the
headquarters ranch. Ed Whiteside is
doing the carpenter work.
11. W. Nichols is having the house
on bis home place painted. The new
bnrn there has just been completed.
The Parent Teacher's circle will
hold their last meeting, until full, on
Saturday, June' 4. at the home of Mrs,
W. K. Parker.-' It promises to 'be an
interesting meeting, as Miss Van Sant,
head of the .Medford library, will be
present and talk to the ladies on In
teresting and instructive books ' for
children. It Is hoped that , every
member will bo nblo to attend.,
Mr. and Mrs. Sum Anderson and
family of Central Point, were calling
on Seven Oaks friends Monday
evening.

land to make Ills parents a few day's
visit and take his wife and daughter

versary. Finas Mayfield of the Meadows is at
the Med ford hospital very sick with

Win. Lewis is busy shearing his
sheep at his Anlioch ranch.
Mr. Gillette is hauling Theo. Class
wheat to Central Point as lie is ship
ping it.
Mr. and Mrs. John Vincent and Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Vincent were out from
Jacksonville Sunday to visit friends.
Although there are many tons of
hay tiown In this part of the valley,
yet the farmers are rejoicing over the
heavy rains of last Friday night, as it
will double tho liext crop of alfalfa,
which will be free from weeds.
There ate a number of strangers in
this pall of tile valley looking for
small tracts of land on which to build
suburban homes. They want these
tracts -on tho highway.
Our community was saddened by
the death of one of our most respected
neighbors, namely Mrs. James Allen,
last Wednesday morning. -Mrs. Allen
had been a great sufferer for more
ihan fifteen years, eight ofBiliich she
had been perfectly helpless. The end
enmo peacefully, after several days of
gradual sinking. Mrs. Allen was. a
lady of unusual 'fortitude, always
thinking of others insteud of her own
groat sufferings. Site was ix woman
or great charity, a true Christian, a
devoted wife and mother. Our sym
pathy goe3 out to her devoted husband
who tenderly cared for her though all
these years of suffering.
Miss Llbe'rta Gore was brought
home Inst week and is nblo to be about

in the hospital 'since Match when she
was injured in an auto accident on the
highway. It will be some time yet be
