The local Chautauqua season which
closed t the tabernacle last night
with a fine' concert by the Mary Adelc
Haves Grand Opera company was
successful that a contract has been
signed with the Ellison-White circuit
for another short season nere next,
summer, this being made possible

"Because reports that construction
work on the .Pacific highway have
been construed to indicate that the
road between Medford and Crater
lake will be blocked this summer, C.
Y. Tengwald, manager of the Crater
Lake National Park company, has is
sued the" following statement: "The
road will be in better condition this
year than it has ever been before.
There is considerable road construc
tion going on on the new . road to
Crater lake, but this does not in any
wise affect travel over the old road,
which has been In good condition and
which this year will be greatly im
proved and In first class condition for
automobile travel.' "
