V. Stillnian', defendant in the divorce
suit brought ,by James A. Stlllman,
today made public a letter dated May
25 from her counsel, John 13. Stanch-
field, in which hp outlined a proposi
tion made to him for settlement of the
case. The lawyer's letter said the pro
posed, terms included recognition of
the legitimacy of Guy Stlllman, three
yean. old.
Counsel for Mr. Stillnian yesterday
denied they, had taken any part in
liegoiiatlons for a settlement and de
clared there never was a time when
Mr. Stlllman was willing to acknow
ledge the parentage of Guy.
The proposals, Mr. Stanchfield said
included discontinuance of the divorce
action; payment of a substantial in
come for life and provision that Mrs.
StUlman should take up her residence
