When Your Car Fails You
You cannot export to run your car day after day
.without some time spent on it by experts in making
adjustments. y VOfton times there is only a loose part, which only
a trained mechanic can find, and if tightened in timu
will save wear and breakage.
Pur records show that eighty per cent of the car
repairs'are due to neglect.
. Drive in .today, and we. will show you how a few
hours spent, in repair and inspection work will save

THE SCOFFER
a picture that
hat every thing
that one expects
In a really big
drama.
History's pages are filled with accounts
of man's sacrifice to satisfy woman's
caprice! Lois Weber, In directing "To
Please One Woman," shows that It isn't
in history only that women exercise their
charms for selfish purposes. Mona Lisa,
heiress to all the wiles of the ages, adds
those of today to her portrayal.

CUT IN WAGES
CINCINNATI, May C The princi
ples and program which organized la
bor of the United States will be asked
to support and uphold during the next
year were being drafted here today by
the executive council of the American
Federation of Labor for presentation
at the annual convention at Denver in
June.
As to wage reductions, it was said
the council takes the position that a
widespread attempt is being made to
lower wages whjle retail prices are
maintained at unjustifiably high
lcvols.
Reports to the council declared
4,000,000 persons out of Work and the
situation showing no improvement.
William Green, secretary of the
United Mine Workers of America, said
that 150,000 miners are out of work
and that 300,000 are working from one
to three days a week.
"Practically none of our men have
steady employment," he added.
The executive council was brought
under fire today of the local advocates
of the "open Hhop" movement. H.
Van Mutre, secretary of the industrial
division of the Chamber of Commerce,
issued a statement attacking the
closed union shop as a restriction
upon "a worker's ability and oppor
tunity by Its dead-level standard."
"Let them go ahead," said President
Samuel Gompers in reply to Van
Matte, "they cannot injure the Amer
ican labor movement."
