The importance of cooperation on
the part of civic organizations with
the state highway commission in its
program of preserving trees and
shrubs along public highways Is sug
gested to Governor Olcott in a letter
just received from Fred II. Kizer of
Portland. A letter received by the
governor from II. O. Frobach of Med
ford, secretary of the Scenic Preserva
tion association of that city, suggests
that essays on scenic preservation he
made a part of the program In all the
schools in the state on Arbor day. Both
letters have been referred to the high
way commission for consideration in
connection with any plan II may have
