Recent heavy rains in tho upper
part of the valley have caused the
river to maintain a fairly heavy flow
The stream had commenced to drop to
a low stago last week, ,but because of
the saturated condition of the ground,
the rainfall finds its way into the
stream. It is now carrying about C
000 second fet of water. The stage
must recede to about 400 second feet
before the work on the Savage rapids
dam can be resumed with the certain
ty that the water can be controlled.--

Superintendent J. W. Berrian of
the Hutle Falls hatchery says that at
the Squaw Lake egg taking station
up to the present time, since the mid
dle of February 300.000 cut throat
trout eggs had been taken, nnd that
when -he visited the station a -week
ago, there were 1800 fish in the pens.
The eggs taken at this station will
later on be distributed throughout
tho streams of tills section, wherever
the state fisli and game commission
