cause of the small Ashland floor, but
the Saturday battle on Medford's reg
ulation floor promises to be one of tho
fastest and best of this season's hoop-'i
fights. Owing to controversy over of
ficials, Ashland will have the privilege
of selecting the men who will bundle
Friday and Saturday's games.
' As a preliminary to the main events
the Medford high girls will play the
Ashland sextet for tho Southern Ore
gon championship. Since' both teams
will enter tho fray with a long list of
victories to their credit and confident
of winning, these games promise to he
the fasteBt of their kind played this
season. Fifty reserved tickets for Fri
day's game at Ashland will be on sale
at Crowson's tomorrow morning to ac
commodate the rooters from this city,

Several matters of Importance In
the preservation and propagation of
fish and game were taken up at a
meeting of the executive committee
of .the Klamath county sportsmen's
association yesterday afternoon.
The question of reducing tho limit
for large fish, or to stop fishing from
motor boats and boats propelled by
kickers on the Upper lake, was con
sidered. Thousands of pounds of fish are
taken each year near Rocky Point
by persons fishing from motor boats.
Most of these fish, It was said are
suited or smoked and shipped from
the county.
One Instance was cited of a man
who lust year took 800 pounds ol
smoked fish home to Medford when hoi
finished his vacation. Not knowing
what to do with them he gave them to
a butcher who sold them across his
counter at the market price, 41) cents
a pound. Klamath Falls Herald.
The preliminary hearing of George
Robins, the bogus check man captured
last Saturday night, waB held before
Justice Taylor today on the charge of
passing a $0 forged check on Jens
Jensen. He was represented by his
attorney, former County Prosecutor O.
M. Roberts, and the state was repre
sented by Assistant County Prosecutor
George Codding. No defense was of
fered and Attorney Roberts did not
even cross question the, state's wit
nesses. Robins was held to the grand
Jury in $1000 ball. Tho charge against
Robins of passing a forged $40 check
on the Model Clothing company did
not come up, and Is being held In
abeyance' for the present. -

right to represent southern Oregon
in tho state basketball conference to
be held In Salem on March 11th. Rose-
berg defeated Medford In three out of
four games, but lost two games to
Ashland on Ashland's own floor by
very cIohb scores. Roseburg's claim
to the southern Oregon championship
hus not been fully established and may
not be decided until Ashland and Rose
burg clash for this honor on the local
floor March 14 and 15. If, however,
Medford defeats slilnml iu the series
to be held between those teams this
week, Roseburg's right will be unques
tioned. The local players have a great deal
of praise for tho treatment received
from the students of the high schools
where they visited, and Btated that the
players on the teams which they met
were very sportsmanlike In victory or
