home burned down early Christmas
morning will make their homo at the
Medford, at which hotel they arrived
weary and bedraggled at 1 a. m.
Christmas morning with only a
change of clothing they had saved
from the flames. Major French said
today that they would rebuild In the
early spring, as they were in love
with the location and neighborhood.
The insurance will not halt cover the
loss, he declares. The major hap

With the completion of the Canyon
creek arch last week, the last impas
sable barrier on the Pacific highway
has been removed, according to Her
bert S. IN'unn, state highway engineer.
Only one detour on the highway be
tween Portland and the southern
boundary line of the state, Is left,
that on Sexton mountain in Josephine
county, and the highway department
is maintaining this detaur in a pas
sable condition, so that the Pacific
highway will be open to through trnf
fc all winter. The Canyon creek arch

struction and is one of the largest
bridges of its type In the state.
