LICENSES FOR 921
. Dog licenses for 1921 are payable
to the county clerk 'on and after Jan
uary 1, and owners of canines In both
city and country-, if they desire to re
tain the same, are urged to -remit
without delay. Last year6ver 1600
licenses were issued in this couhty,
and it is expected there will be more
this year. . '
The funds Collected wiH.be put into
the dog fund, and if a farmer loses a
sheep or goat thru the murderous
attacks of a dog, he can file a claim
wlth 'the county olerk, and ' iie reim
bursed. Several claims Of this na
ture were tiled With the county last
year, and paid ugon the presentation
of satisfactory evidence.
"The dog tax .has created consider-;
able local dissatisfaction among far
mers, who think that country dogs
should not be assessed, - but , city
canines made to stand the -tax, Upon
the argument that'the city dog is lof
no 'use to the community, 'while the
country dog' is a terror for varmints.
