Everybody is dad to s,ce Dr. and
Mrs. Carey back. The doctor had
tuito a siege of illness, but looks
fully as well as ever. We missed vou,
doctor, and the town seems more

WOOD ALCOHOL FATAL
TO 11 IN TACOMA
TACOMA, Wash., May 24. Wood
alcohol poisoninir was responsible for
two deaths here last niirht, according
to tho police. Chiii lcs J lick, an In
dian, was found dead in a chair in n
hotel. Arthur Lucev, a lonushore
mnn, was discovered dead in bis room.
Investigation disclosed both men hud
been drinkinir u liquid that derived its
"kick" from poisonous wood alcohol,
tho police say.

ing tho forenoon, eat dinner, uo to
the theater or picture show, or visit
friends a few hours nnd go home
ill time to d otheir chores, and thus
spend the duy uml take some comfort
out of life, instead of the old rou
tine of Iruduinir over roimh ronds
with a tenm, iiltunding to business us
fast as possible, not tnkihir time lor
dinner, and hurrying homo to try to
do the chores before dark. And after
we have the two million dollars in
vested on the roads that was voted
on Friday applied on our county roads

his goat dog, but did not miss htm
until he wits almost home, so came
back the next morning for him, find
ing him where hnd fed his horses. lie
claims that he is very valuable, as he
stays with his goats most of the time
not ullowing anything to disturb them.

cnndidales for office. There seemed
to be but very little interest in the
nominal ions of tho county offices,
unless it was the sheriff nnd district
attorney, but there were a few who
worked hard to defeat all tho meas
ures and amendments, where there
was any likeliftood of our taxes being
higher, but they all came out nhead in
spite of the opposition and the vote
for the if.")(MI,()0() for alHlt rimds was
curried about three to one. There
was n very good turn-out, ns there
was ISO votes east, about fid per cent,
of Ihe registration, but there arc
unite n number whose mimes are on
Ihe list, who have moved away since
the last election.

for the ride or perhaps on business.

Mr. Huberts, J. ('. Darns and C. West
man. Charles 11 phrey of Derbv came
in early this Saturday morning to
bring in the ballot boxes from his
precinct, as he hail orders to drill?

them to a deputy sheriff, unothcr
saving of several dollars expense to
the county. He reports that there
where '22 votes cast in Derbv and that
every one was cast for tho county

to appreciate good roads.
