He will have supervision over the

first well. Tho drilling which has
been halted for a time while a more
adequate water supply at the well is
being provided, will probably be re
sumed within a week.
A special train carrying Portland
and Seattle business men to the
Foreign Trade Council convention at
San Francisco aruived in Medford at
2:30 Sunday afternoon nnd departed
at 3 o'clock. Mayor linker and a
number of other Portland men well
known hero wero on the train. No
one was at the depot to greet tho
erstwhile visitors as It was not known
that the train was coming nor that it
would wait here.
