MAY T'AdR FTFTVTWf GIT EXPLOSIVES Construction of tlie Pacific high way is progressing rapidly und on portions of the work no delay is tol erated which means supplies and ma terial has to be rushed in with all possible speed. This Is particularly so of work in progress in Jackson county near Soda Springs where, in conjunction with steam shovels, an immense yardage of rock and soil is being removed with Giant explosives. Dynamite for this work is being drawn from magazine installed last year near Jacksonville which has a carload capacity; ' and the conven ience has been strongly felt. Tha convenient situation of the magazine has also been taken advan tage of by pie irrigation project near Talent which has used considerable (iiant explosives in their work, draw ing from Jacksonville as the explo sives wore required. Another phase of activities in which explosives is playing a great part if 'mining anil agricultuial work. Production in mining has to be kept up which -means explosives and sup plies have to he furnished promptly. This is true of ' agricultural work also. Every.'-availahle acre' of land has to he cleared, stubborn hardpan blasted, in order to insure the max imum of production. Thus Jackson county was selected as the ideal county to serve as an explosives dis tributing center. . livestock ., PlrtRTUiU). Ore., XEuv 5. PRAIRIE SCHOONER Mine Develops Vehicle to Serve.; AH Purposes, i; j j ;'-, I i ..; The Prairie Schooner recalled in stories of the early west, will always prove interesting when considering tho development of our transporta tion facilities. Every once in a while this relic of transportation is brought to light in a modern way, and this, was strikingly Illustrated in a recent adaptation of a Republic motor truck operated by the Tung-Bten-Comet Mining Co., of Panaca, Nevada. This company is situated seventeen miles from the nearest railroad and this condition brought about the need of solving the com pany's daily transportation require ments, both as to passengers and freight. ' Realizing'' that it was not practical to have a number of vehicles which would necessarily be idle a part of the time, the Tungsten-Comet Min ing company installed a 2-ton Re public truck with a type of body to meet their local conditions. A pas senger automobile tonneau seat was furnished for the driver and for his protection a roadster top was at tached. Over the body of the trurjt a canvas top was built along lines adapted from the old-fashioned prai rie schooner that traversed tho wes tern plains fifty years ago. This unique vehicle is used to haul pas sengers and supplies from tho rail road to the company's mine, as well as conveying express shipments of high grade concentrates which the company produces. The president of the Tungsten Comot Mining company is most en thusiastlc over the utility of the Re public truck so employed and is a firm believer in the merits of motor transportation. Adv. Pimples, sores and boilj usually re sult from toxins, poisons and impurities which arc generated in the bowels anil then absorbed into the blood through the very ducts which should absorb only nourishment to sustain the body. It is the function of the kidneys to filter impurities from the blood and cast them out in the form of urine, bu: in many instances the bowels create more toxins and impurities than the kidneys can eliminate, then the blooc uses the skin pores as the next best means of getting rid of these impiritics which often break out all over the si;ir. in the form of pimples. The surest way to clear the skin cf these eruptions, says a noted authority, is to get from any pharmacy about four ounces of.Jad Salts and take a tablespoontul in a glass of hot water each morning before breakfast for cue week. This will prevent the formation of toxins in the bowels. It also stimu lates the kidneys to normal activity, thus coaxing them to filter the. blood oi impurities and clearing the skin of pimples. Jad Salts is inexpensive, harmless and is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia. Here you have a pleasant, effervescent drink which usually makes pimples disappear; cleanses the blood and is excellent for the kidneys as well. HELP WAXTED FEMALE WAXTED Cook on ranch. Phone 04.
