Cross workers remain in Siberia,
while the Stevens party of American
engineers, known as tho Russian rail
way service expect to be out by II ay
1, according to recent arrivals on the
transport Groat Northern from Vladi
vostok via Manila. Tho Great Nor
thern brought 6S0 casual troops, who
comprised almost the last detach
ment to leave Siberia.
-The last American troops, compos
ted of men from the 27th and 31st
infantry wero expected to convoy
German prisoners to Trieste on the
Mount yernon, according to Miss
Margaret Weir of Seattle, who was
one of the twenty-one Red Cross
workers who reached here on the
Great Northern. Six American con
sular officials from Siberia and sev
eral members of the Russian railway
service were aboard also. Thirty
bodies of soldiers, most of whom died
In Siberia, wero on board.
, Several of tho Red Cross party
wore the Order of St. Anne, con
ferred by the Kolchak government,
while Miss Margaret Mathew was
decorated with the Order of St
C-eorge. Only one other American
woman has been so honored, she
snid,, Mrs. .St. John, the chief Red
Cross nurse, who is at present in
japan.
