1920. FAG I WVl Fl REAL ESTATE IN SIS VALLEY IS E MEDFO'iiD MATL TRTBtrNTS. MEDFORTJ. OHl-GON. MONDAY. MAY It is with deepest sorrow that wo are called upon to record the passing nf nni' of the lto.t lovoi mm hra f cm Lighthouse avenue at o'clock in the morning of April Kith. .Mrs. Carrie Lillian Johnson closed her eyes in her last sleep. Mrs. Johnson was horn In Santa Cruz, May Kith, 1S02. After a girlhood spent in Santa Clara and Salinas she came in f 1SS2 to Pacific Grove, where her father, 1). V. Lloyd, was a pioneer merchant, and where ahe taught the first school. On January l!Uh, ISG, she was married to Mr. Jo-vph O. Johnson, then superintendent of the P. I. Co's holdings on this peninsula. In this connection we might recall the fact thai it was Mr. Johnson who consummated the deal with the Jacks Corporation for the purchase of the "Pacific drove Retreat" and platted the townsite of Pacific Grove. In 1SS9 the family moved to Medford. Oregon, where Mr. Johnson died in lsyu. In 19U1 Mrs. Johnson return ed to Pacific Grove and has resided here ever since except for a few years spent in Palo Alto while her daugh ters were in college. AM her lite Mrs. Johnson has heeu a devoted and active member of the local Methodist Episcopal congregation and was its first organist, a labor of love which she performed for five years. Mrs. Johnson is survived by three daugh ters, Misses Jette, and Mabel of Pacific Grove, and Mrs. Clyde Zum walt of Tulare; also by three sisters, Miss Etta It. Lloyd of Pacific Grovo, Miss Leonia Lloyd of San Krancisco, and Mrs. Meyer Dinlrelspiel of Los Angeles, and a nephew, Mr. Lloyd Weir of Los Angeles.. The wealth of beautiful blossoms which surrounded the casket and filled the rooms bore ample testi mony to the esteem in which Mrs. Johnson was held. Out of respect to the memory of the deceased, the stores in the Lloyd building were closed during the funeral services. It is hard when the heart is full, to pay a worthy tribute to one whose pass ing means such a loss to her friends. None knew her hut to love her and the simple sweetness of a beautiful nature never failed to impress those who came in contact with her, and to those who were privileged to call her friend, the memory of her mar velous patience and cheerfulness dur ing a prolonged illness will ever be an unobliging inspiration. Pacific Grove Review. "Mrs. Johnson was well known in Medford where she had many friends and relatives. BUYS 001 ELDEN The Monarch Seed & Food Co. has tnken ovor the interests of Ralph W.
