"The petition asking the Lane county
court to call a special election May
2 1 for the purposo of submitting to
the voters of tho county tho question
of issuing $2,000,000 bonds for the
construction of roads was filed in the
offlco of tho county clerk yesterday
The petition contained 1C50 names
According to tho petition the bonds
if voted aro to run for a period of
25 years, bearing Interest not to ex
ceed five per cent per annum and to
be redeemed one-twentieth annually
it tho end of the fifth year from the
dato of Issue. Tho petition designates
tho roads in various parts of the
county to be improved and states that
not more than $500,000 of tho bonds
are to bo Issued In a slnglo year."

highway about three-fourths of a
mile this sldo of Ashland was entered
by n burglar who took away a suit
case and about $75 worth of cloth
