But he said no thins about that in his advertisements.!
And the advertisement for twentv-six lonely widows was!

people would be callous enough to say it served them riaht.j
But teat does no good. Ihe onjy good to be derived from I

it would also reduce the number of Hsecntious marriages.;

Quite unintentionally we Insulted the telegraph oper-j
ators of the country yesterday by declaring that under a;
soviet form of government Mr. Theodore X. Vail would j
have remained a humble telegraph operator "of little value
to himself and of less to the world." Our meaning, of;
course, was that the tc-lejrraph operator, as a potential bene- j
factor of mankind would be lost in the levelling process of j
communism and utilized, as they are even' day, in the;
play of initiative which a democracy allows. This explana
tion Ls made in advance of losing our telegraph service,
which is not only essential to the world, but peculiarly
essential to us.

THE SPRING COLD.
I HAVE a cold; it should be hard to be a cheerful
sunshine bard. I'd like to croak about despair, and
rear on my hind limbs and swear: but habit is a won
drous thing, and so I dance around and sing. My head
is clogged, my eyes are sore, anl every breath sounds
like a snore; I'm full of fever, and my brow feels like
an old Dutch oven now. and men would say I had f x
cusp, if I should rant and raise the deuce. But habit lias
me in its grip, and so I sound my cheerful yip. For
years I've plied this sunshine stunt, and kept a smiling
face in front, and now, when I would make lament. I
cannot do it worth a cent. I'm feeling punk and tough
as sin. but every groan ends in a grin. And this, my
friends, methinks should teach that wholesome habit is
a peach. I' mglad I learned when I was young to leave
the doleful dirge unsung, and chant glad ditties, span
and spick, till some one hit me with a brick, to push gay
ballad- through my lward. until tli- -i-lers interfered.

Imitation "Ford" parts are beini; sold by many mail-order hous..

The Authorized Ford Dealer is yuur protection. As such, we handle
