The Recreation club was delight
fully entertained by Mrs. Esther Hra

River, was greatly enjoyed. Delicious
refreshments were served by the hos

home folks the last week, and looking
after her interests. She is stopping

We havo been experiencing some
real blustery weather thru March and
will be glad when this month has

We are informed that mere timber
buyers are coining up this week, to
look over our vast forests. They are
always welcome, so are the oil men
that aid they would come back soon.
This is too valuable a country to lay
idle, as it is. when there is a scarcity
of tile material that is gi.-:ng to waste
every day up here, enough to keep
several mills in operation and em
ployment for hundreds of men, so we
ure in hopes thai the right one will
come along soon and start the wheels
revolving.

It is reported that boring for oil
will soon commence in the Sains Val
ley district. With three drills going
in the valley let us hope that the
price of gasoline may seme day be
lowered.
Roy Kyle or Eagle Point, was a
business visitor here Sunday.
Among the roll of honor cows in
tho Jackson County Cow Testing as
sociation for tho month r.'f January
is one belonging to Stanley l.ydiard
of this place which was third on the
list for quantity of milk produced and
fourth in pounds of buttcrfat.

gram at St. Mary's academy last Fri

J. C. Pendleton is helping with the
work of assessing property in the

Frank Deford recently killed on
upper Table Itock one of the largest
wild cats over seen in this vicinity.

Dr. .1. S. Iliggins and wife and
little daughter of Live Oak, Cal., re
turned to Ihelr home Monday after a
few days .visit at the l.ydiard home.
Mr. Iliggins is a nephew of J. II.

been completed at the Modoc orchard

A real estate deal of much ' impor
tance was closed a few days ago when
the Wycoff ranch became the proper
ty of Mr. Weils of Nebraska, for a
consideration in tho neighborhood of
$25,0Hi). Mr. Weils and family will
take possession next fall and will be
gin at once the work of making a
model stock and alfalfa ranch out of
their property.
