victim of n student's prank when he

of their refusal to help other stu
dents build a nmnitiK track, it was
announced by college officials today.
Professor Caspar Harvey, after his
misfortune immediately sent two
telegrams to t he state board of agri
culture saying the students had seiz
ed control, that a soviet was in opera
tion and asked for immediate assis
stanee. Nc' instances of the students
proclaiming a "soviet" or of their at
tempting to govern the school were
reported.
The trouble started when the presi
dent of the school declared a half
holiday for the men students to build
a running track. A woman professor
suggested that the girls furnish a
meal to the men and that any who
did not assist be given a "ducking.'
The men of the school believed this
rule should also apply to their sex
and when Professors Harvey and
Start, and John Iduduist, a student,
refused, believing the order was an
infringement upon their liberty, they
were thrown into tho lake.
This closed the incident with tho
exception of the "soviet" telegrams.
