TM-NAMJJALLii the war lias lust started, lac zero
" hour, monetarily speaking, lias just arrived. Onb
instead ol going over tlie tun with t lie bavonet, tlie call is
to go over tlie top with the dinner pail. .
Without pretending to go deeplv into the economii
phases, it is plain to any layman, that the hundred odd
billion cost of the war can't he paid in jazz dancing. And
yet according to reliable accounts, not onlv in Paris and
London, but Home and Berlin, there was never so much
extravagance, never .so much gambling, never .so much
gayety and gadding.
As Mr. Hoover has said the first thing for Europe to
do is get to work. J.cl'ore Uncle Sam loans any more, Eu
rope must Joat less. Jiut eventually it this war ol dollar
is to be won America must go to Europe's aid to the limit,
just as she was lorced to go to the limit in the war of death.
And to do this without serious sacrifice it is necessarj
for every American citizen to produce at 100 per cent ca
pacity, reduce waste in time and money, and return to
sanity and reason. Europe must nav us in goods. AVhat
she can't pay in goods must be accepted in good will
mat is time based on confidence.
In other words, the same feeling of co-operative solid
irity, unity and understanding which won the war, must
oe maintained to win tlie peace, and lor the same reason.
For in the modern world what effects one nation effects
all. If Europe is ruined financial! v. nothing can save the
United States, from great if not absolute disaster. To keep
Europe from bankruptcy, is not only good ethics, it is good
nusiness it is in lad the only business worth serious con
sideration just now.
Disregarding the line points ol the problem, which
one can leave to the experts, in the Jast analysis, the solu
tion depends upon Hard work universally practiced.

Back of the manufacture of Goodyear Tires
for small cars is the same purpose to supply
high value in the product that is behind
the manufacture of the Goodyear Tires that
equip the most expensive automobiles built.
This purpose is expressed by the enormous
resources, extraordinary skill and scrupulous
care applied to the manufacture of Goodyear
Tires in the largest tire factory in the world
devoted solely to the 30x3-, 30x3 V2-, and
31x4-inch sizes.
The effect of this endeavor is noted in the
fact that last year more cars using these sizes
were factory-equipped with Goodyear Tires
than with any other kind. -
It is also noted in the fact that, if you own a
Ford, Chevrolet, Dort, Maxwell or other car
requiring the sizes mentioned, you can secure
Goodyear Tires and Goodyear Heavy Tourist
