An evangelistic campaign of un
usual power is to begin Kob. l.'.th
1 'J-K at the First Baptist church. The
pastor and pcoplo have been planning
for some weeks. Special prayer ser
vices have been held at the church
and in the homes. Hov. S. .1. Ueid
evangolist of the Oregon 'Baptist
stale convention is coming. Mr. Held
has held successful meetings at Pen-dletc-n,
Marshficld, Salem, etc. Dr.
Heid is familiarly known as "The
"Irish Kvangelist," and has many
popular gifts, without the cheap
method of the usual type of sensa
tional evangelist.
There is no man more widelv
known than Dr. Clecrgo W. Truett of
Dallas. Texas. Sco whut he has to
say ofl)r. Reid:
"The Texas Baptists are greatlv
Indebted to Dr. S. J. Hold, and also
to the Baptist Young People's assem
bly of Texas, that has just closed its
annual meetings at Palacios. Dr
Keid completely captured the as
sembly. We aro greatly indebted to
Dr. Reid, and cur lives shall be rich
or and better becauso of his visit to
Texas. Let us co-operale to havo
him in tills country again. He is a
man of superb gifts, modest, humble
courageous, cultured and deeply spir
itual. Ho is a man with a message
worth whllo for any and evory class
fortunate enough to hear him." -
