EAGLE POINT EAGLETS
By A. a Howlatt.
Mc. V. (ITntO Lewis, who is work
ing for the Brittson brothers on the
I'. S. Anderson dairy ranch, on limine
river, about six miles above here,
was a business caller Saturday af
ternoon. In speaking of the Ander7
" son ranch, for years it was consider
ed ns one of the manv ranches up
Jloiruo river and in the foot hills as
being of little eonseouenee, but since
it was purchased bv Mr. Anderson
and he has placed the Kritlien broth
ers in charge of it and has perfected
a ditch to hrimr the water of Koguc
river onto the land ami tinder their
management it now is considered one
of the best ranches in this section of
the country. And if I was asked
what has made the change, I would
answer, work and water, l'or when
J first knew the place f)0 years asro
, the old lfcose place, it was about all
that .could be dime to raise feed to
keen a team to do the work, and a
few cows. Hut now it is a thriving
dairy ranch and bringing in to the
owner a handsome return for the in-H-estaieift.
And that is not an iso
lated instance, but there are hundreds
of cases all through that section of
the country where, if thev succeed in
bringing- in the water from His.' Hutte
as is contemplated where thousands
of tons of hav and grain will be pro
duced. I hear the stockmen tellinir
of the wonderful chanire that has
taken place in the production of, es
pecially hav. where the increase, on
account of water, has been from one
to three hundred per cent. And still
there arc a few of the "old moss
backs'' who are fighting- the project
to put water on the land.
George Given was also another
business caller Saturday afternoon,
anil he can add his testimony in fa
vor of bringing in the water onto the
land.
Airs. J. K. McDonald, at present
the hostess in the Klks' Hesort. came

in fact, almost every move that has

She seemed to be meeting with con
