The Old Wav
This is a Monday niorniiip; scene in the house when:
they do the washing in the old-fashioned way:
'A hot, steaming room. A woman bending over the
tubs. She rubs, rubs, rubs. Oh. how she does rub,
with those red hands of hers. The strong suds have,
no merey. Arms red to the, elbows. Tint it's wash
day. Hour after hour she rubs and rubs and rinses.
How such rubbing weal's those delicate fabrics!
How do you expect clothes to last when they are rub
bed that way ?
Her poor back feels as if it would break. Oh, those
backaches but it 's wash day. Her i'eet are soggy
wet they chug in her shoes as she walks about the
tubs but wet feet must come on wash day, just as
long as women persist in washing the old way, with
the washboard.
You know that drudgery you women who keep
house. Even if you employ a laundress, you know

The Thor Way
Now here is the Thor way-the way that turns wash
day into play day.
A Thor Electric Washing Machine does it. Instead
of the clumsy tubs and the washboard a neat cab
inet stands in the corner. A great fluffy mass of fine,
white soap foam rises and falls and swishes from one
side to the other. Your clothes are being washed
thoroughly, silently, quickly. No red hands, norcd
arms, no backache, no wet feet no wear, iii tho
clothes. Done in an hour or two at the most Won
