Stating that the Oregon State Fish

a unit for the complete divorcement

! in his opinion that harmony could

and other general public interests
went on record at the special meeting
, called by Governor Olcott at Salem
yeslerday morning.
Immediately upon assembling In
sonute chamber, Senator A. W. Nor
blad, of the lower Columbia li-rer dis
trict was elected chairman of the
meeting and Governor Olcott was in
vited to attend the meeting. The
governor in addressing the meeting
reiterated his former opinion that
harmcny under the present plan of
administr-ation of fish a-n-d g-a-me mat
ters of the state was impossible and
that he believed the best interests of
the people would be served by thh
establiHliment of two separate com
lissions, one to ad-minister the inter
ests f;f the people and the sports-men
and the other to be purely represen

Kame (inh and criticized in no uncer
tain language the lax manner In
which the people's Intercuts were be
ing cared for. Mr. Mansfield said
that the fact that hundreds of mil
lion!) of dollars of fish had been
taken and sold by Oregon packers
was not evidence that the packers
had a vested right to all the remain
ing fish in the waters of the state
but that the fish belonged to tho peo
ple who were entitled to see that
they were not exterminated for" the
benefit of commercial interests. The
speaker made positive statements in
regard to the steadily decreasing
bteelhead trout In the tipper Kogue
river and said that spawning beds
that 't visited by thousands of
-stcelhead a few years ago, were to
his personal knowledge now entirely
deserted in the spawning season. Mr.
.Mansricld's address received consid
erable applause.
Senator C. M. Thomas told the
meeting that the first action in order
was the resignation of the present
state fish and game commission and
said he fully a-g-reed with Governor
Olcott that two commissions were
necessary and that politics should
not bo per.m'iMed to have a-ny p'fr-t In
future ad'nrtnls.t-r.at.ion of eit'h'er commission.

housewife
Those who are harnessed to antiquated
methods reap weary minds and bodies. But
those who clean the "Premier" way find time
for the amusements and social diversions that
are the right of every woman.
Yaeeiuirn Cleaner
Prolongs the life of floor coverings. Re
stores them to original beauty. Cleans wherever
dust and dirt collects. And the heart of the
cleaner is the little motor made by the Gen
eral Electric Co. Its adoption by the Premier
Company put the stamp of dependability on
this exceptional cleaner. A small deposit and
balance on terms puts a Premier in your home.
