both ends' of the ma;n ditch of the
Talent Irrigation district one end ot
the ditch being on Wagner creek and
the; other In- the foothills west of
Phoenix in what is known as the
Griffin . creek ; section. While only
small crews are at work so far more
men will be added as fast as they can
be procured.. The main ditch will be
seven miles long.- . . i
This morning contracts for the
supply ditch leading from McDonald
creek to Wagner Gap. a distance ot
four miles, were opened at Talent.
Two bids were submitted, . one ' by
Stewart ft Carlton ot Medford and
one By Natwlck & Brown of Eagle
Point. The contract' was awarded to
the former. . . .. . '
Demand for the Talent municipal
irrigation district 6 per cent sold
bondsJackson county, Oregon, being
offered this week by FreemanSmith
& Camp company, is attributed to
the fact that they are a direct general
tax lien upon 8417 acres of the fa
mous Rogue River valley lands, 90
per cent ot which Is under, cultiva
tion. This district is unusually at
tractive because such a large percen
tage of It la under cultivation and
income producing at the time ot issu

ed the sheriff's taking possession ot

from . Prosecutor Roberta, who had
samples ot the cider ahalyied by Miss
Holt, chemistry teacbor In the Med
ford high school. Miss Holt found
tho cider to-be 11,4 per cent alcohol.
Dahack 's main do tense at the trial

the cider Into vinegar. - He also' de
nied selling a gallon of the cider, or
any Other quantity, to the two boys,
and asaerted: that they stole the cider
after he had refuted, to tell them

they bought a gallon ot the stuff
from him and took a part ot It away

youths testified that they reurned
laterand got the remainder, but the
