: When the women who had given
tho required 800 hours service In
Rod dross' work were called together
Monday afternoon for a social half
hour and to receive the "badge of
service" they llttlo knew the splendid
surprise that was in store for them.
Fifty-six ladles were present and as
tho Red Cross does not give to' any
cause but charity all were prepared
to give one dollar In exchange for the
beautiful service plh that means so
much to a Red Cross worker, espec
ially to those who had not given bus
bands, sons and fathers to tho service
of our country.
Mayor Gates presided and In a few
well chosen words thanked the ladles
for their untiring efforts, commended
those to whom the service pin would
be given and pointed out the neces
sity of keeping right on with the
