The Medford high basket ball team
Saturday night met its fourth con
secutive defeat at the hands of Ash
land high by the score of 43 to 12,
and the Medford high girls team
wound up the series with Ashland
with a 26 to 16 victory, making it
three victories out of the four con
tests played. The games were played
In Ashland and following -them the
Ashland teams banqueted the Med
ford teams and officials In the Ash
land high Bchool building. - Last Fri
day night after the contests played In
this city the Medford teams banquet-'

conform with existing conditions, a
bill was passed by the house last
week adding to the present law,
apartment houses and restaurants.
Should It finally lie enacted, It will
bo a misdemeanor to defraud a res
taurant or apartment house.

Herbert L. Alford written from Camp
Meade. M. D., dated Feb. 15th.' ho
says, "I am relieved from duty here,
and ordered to Washington for duty
in the office of the chief of the motor
transport corps. 1 will be on the
job early Monday morning. I will
enjoy being stationed in the city but
don't like the idea of leaving the
boys here; they are surely a fine
bunch."

Sergeant Dana A. Barrell of com
pany B. 219th field signal battalion.
and Edna H. Barrell, Yeoman second
class, U. S. N. R. F., arrived In Med
ford Friday. Miss Barrell was one
of the first young women of Medford
to enlist in the naval reserve ' in
March, 1917, and Is now employed as
the only woman draftsman in the
public works drafting department at
the Puget Sound navy yard. She is
on a short furlough of seven days
and Is visiting her parents, Mr! and
Mrs. A. D. Barrell who reside In this
city. Sergt. Barrell has received an
honorable discharge. Having enlist
ed In the signal corps at Fort Law
ton, Wash., on March 4, 1918, he was
transferred to Camp Dodge, Iowa,
where he was instructor in the divis
ional signal school.
