completed Its work this forenoon and
was discharged. The Jury had few
cases to consldor and returned only
six Indictments. .
After a thoro Investigation of the
charge against A. K. Karhart. former
road supervisor of the Rogue River
district, accused of charging theuse
of his auto against the county while
In office as a wagon and team, the
Jury refused to Indict Mr. Earhart
and dropped tho charge. The mom'
hers of the former county court test!
fled before the Jury highly commend
lug Mr. Earlinrt's work as supervisor.
The Jury returned an indictment
against Ray Toft, tho Med ford loan
broker, for the unlawful selling of a
bottle of whisky to V. H. Smith, the
local roofing contractor, early in De
cember. An indictment was also re
turned against John Doe on the
charge of contributing to the delin
quency of a minor. .
IN Information was given out con
cerning the four other Indictments
rfefurned, but It is understood that
they were, all returned in the four
Ashland cases of criminal assault on
young girls.
. The session of the circuit court

years in the reserve instead of three

notes presented by Mathlas Erzber
ger, one of the German armistice
commissioners to Marshal Foch at
Treves on Friday, complained of the
failure of the. entente allies to com
mence negotiations at Spa for a fin
ancial treaty with Germany, accord
ing to a German wireless dispatch
picked up here. Erzberger pointed
out that the arrangements made by
the entente called for a beginning of
the negotiations on February 12, and
that the German delegates wore at
Spa to commence work.
He said it would be necessary to
arrive at an agreemeat regarding the
amount and price of foodstuffs to be
supplied Germany and concerning
the manner of payment. He declar
ed that, as these matters were not
settled It wall Impossible to give In
structions to the commercial fleet,
for "however anxious the German
government Is to fulfill its engage
ments, it is its solemn duty not to
place the merchant fleet under for
