lion, the indictments returned jointly with that. of the
Jenson Creamery Company against the Mutual Creamery
Company, AV. lOenscn, E. W. Ellis, Carlisle Hall, W. W.
Hamilton, I). E. Newman and II. A. Shcllenberger, mana
gcre and superintendents of branches of the Jensen
.Creamery Company, were dismissed.
February 17 ia'thc date set for the trial of the mana
gers of the other companies iudieted at the same time, tho
remaining companies being the Henningsen Produce
Company, a corporation of Spokane; the Hazel wood Com
pany, a" corporation of. Portland; Klock Produce Com
pany, a corporation of Seattle.
The indictment was one of the most far-reaching ever
'returned by a Federal grand jury in Idaho. The gather
ing of evidence against the defendant companies began
in 1915, when the government sleuth, Leon Boone, of the
Department of J ustice, was placed on the case, whieh took
him over seven Western States.
The specific charges were':" The payment temporarily
of high prices in order to control the market; the issuance ;.
of false weights and tests to injure-Competitors; attempt
ed bribery; improper use of employes of competitors; pre
venting storage for perishables; giving o short weight;'
influencing legislation against competitors apportion
ment of territory after a false showing of. competition
nsing coercion in the. fixing of prices for raw materials,
and charging excessive and unwarranted prices to con
sumers. ! :
