that immense cantonment where
there are still' 30,000 soldiers stu
tloned and hundreds axe arriving
dally from overseas service. Dr.
Couroy has climbed fast during his
service at Camp Lewis. Among other
duties the most Important is that he
is at tho head of the hospital build
ing recently opened to take car of
officers from overseas with condi
tions calling for surgery. Dr. Conroy
will not return to Medford bofore
next May as in response to a cull for
volunteers he signed up to remain as
surgeon and physician nt tho base

It was a tough pull on many Med
ford people to meet tho final pay
ments on their fourth liberty loan
bonds yesterday. For those who have
been paying on a $50 bond the pay
ment is $15.36 and in proportion for
larger amounts. On making the final
payments the bonds were delivered
to the purchasers. The 36 cents ex
tra is refunded when the first coupon
is due April 15, 1919, amounting to
$1.01. 'After the next coupon, the
semi-annual interest payments are
$1.06 on a $50 bond.
