that ho could not get all of the mall
on bis Ford and the result was that
he was a very fow minutes behind
his usual time hut he got to our post
office with all the mail. He had his
Ford packed full to the top and all
that he could lash on both running
boards. There never has been such
a load ot mall matter brought to this
post office before and the result was
that tho two-horse stage and tho two
anto stages were loaded down to ca
pacity. Tuesday morning there were two
auto loads of poople came out from
Medford and among them was Miss
Gladys N'atwlck. Gladys Phlpps and
her slelor, Miss Phlpps who stopped
off horo to take the train for the N'at
wlck farm.

218), and the Instructions of tbe
Secretary of the Interior of Septem
ber 10. 1917, the timber on the fol
lowing 'lands will be sold Jan. 2,
1919, at 10 o'clock a. m.f at public
auction at the United States land
office at Roseburg, Oregon, to the
highest bidder at not less than the
appraised value as shown, by this
notice, sale to be subject to the' ap
proval of the Secretary of the In
terior. Tho purchase price, with an
additional sum of one-fifth of one
per cent thereof, being commissions
allowed, must bo deposited at time
of sale, money to be returned if sale
Is not approved, otherwise patent
will issue for the timber which must
bo remoed within ten years. Bids
will bn received from citizens ot the
United States, associations of such
citizens and corporations organised
under the laws ot the United States
or any . state, territory or district
thoreof only. Upon application of a
qualified purchaser, the timber on
any legal subdivision will be offered
separately before being included in
