"Within, a very reasonable period we shall find all principal mail liners fitted with seaplanes," asserts D. H. Bernard, editor of tho Merchant Service no view. "Considerable time' will be saved in the transit ot mails. A linor leaving New York with urgent and Important letters will be able to dis charge them by seaplane 300 to 400 miles west ot the Irish coast; wttnin a few hours they can be delivered In London thus effecting a' saving ot 24 hours. "The same procedure can 'be car ried out by a vessel bound to New York weather of course being an Important factor, for In fine and settled weather a well-equipped sea plane could travel at an enormous speed over a considerable distance. It is auite within the bounds of pos sibility that letters posted in London can be delivered in New York within four days." , Mr. Bernard thinks the servtcs will at first be subsidized by the gov ernments of the two countries. .
