Hun Orgies Continue
The enemy shows no signs of ceas
ing his orgies of looting. Every town
the British ha,ve captured has been
pillaged. Usually the Huns break up
and destroy whatever they are un
able to carry off.
There are further signs that the
Germans either are carrying out or
are on the verge of beginning a re
treat from the Scheldt line as the
British advance north of Valencien
nes out in the direction of Mons and
Maulieuge. They are less than IS
miles from Mons and about fifteen
from Jlaubeuge.
Alsatians After Kaiser
There was sharp fighting at Bnn-j
sies before all the Germans remain

the enemy retreated he exploded
mines under roads and railways.
Many Alsatians have been captur
ed. A large number of these ex
pressed a desire to Join the French
rrmy. saying they had been dragged
into the Gorman army against their
will and desired more than anything
else to fight the emperor's forces.
In the advance Wednesday the
Dritish captured some brand new 4.2

commundcr of a Genn:n regiment.

would enuhlo the allied forces not
only to dominate the German forces
on the front, but would give an open
road to Germany should a resump

It is believed the allied chiefs will
choose a different plan for the rear

What would ycu consumers think cf a wheel with
out spokes?
What would jrou think cf a man who would take any
or all of the spokes out of a wheel to make it run better?
Swift & Company's business of getting fresh meat to
you is a wheel, of which tho packing plant is only the
hub. Retail dealers are the rim and Swift & Company
Branch Houses aro tho spokes.
The hub wouldn't do the wheel much goodand yo
wouldn't have much use for hub or rim if it weren't for
the spokes that fit their, ail together to make a wheel of it.
Swift & Company Branch Houses are placed, after
thorough investigation, in centers where they can be
successfully operated and do the most good for the most
people at tho least possible cost.
Each "spoke" in ch?.r;o oi: a man who knows that
he is there to keep you supplied at all times with meat,
sweet and fresh; and who knows that if he doesn't do it,
his competitor will.
Hew much good would the hub and the rim of the
Swift "wheel" do you if the spokes were done away with?
