In gloomy contrast with the good
record of the several previous days,
only J.lnuO was subscribed Thursday
In the Medford district liberty bond
campaign. This leaves about $!!',

reached.
The liberty bond commltteo makes
an urgent nppeal for volunteer solici

hard persuasive work to round up
the slow subscribing citizens and the
slackers. Volunteer workers and
subscriptions nro needed worse now
than at any previous stage of the
campaign. Tiie lack of sufficient
aides nnd solicitors is very discourag

It has got so that the committee
FO'-retary spends ail of ono (lay in
calling up known patriotic citizens
and getting their promise to work as
solicitors tho next day, and the next
day but few show up and tho secre

the phono In trying to get substitutes
to servo. Of those who promised to
servo today but one man showed up
this morning, nnd there were but
few to fhow up for afternoon work.
Many now rubscrjptlons are com

ple who had not subscribed in the
last campaign, but many people who
hiought bonds in' the last campaign
havo so far failed to subscribe in the
present campaign.
The committee appeals to them te

If you know ot some one who Is
troubled with Catarrhal Deafness,
head noises or ordinary catarrh cut
out this formula and hand it to them
and you may have been the means of
saving some poor sufferer perhaps
from total deafness. In England
scientists for a long time past have
recognized that catarrh is a constitu
tional disoase nnd necessarily re
quires constitutional treatment.
Sprays, inhalers and nose douches
are llablo to irritate the delicate air
passages and force the disoase Into
the middle ear which frequently
means total deafness, or else the dis
ease may be driven down the air
passages towards the lungs which Is
equally as dangerous. The following
formula which Is used extensively in
the damp English climate is a con
stitutional treatment and should
prove especially efficacious to suffer
ers here who live under more favor
able climate conditions.
Securo from your druggist 1 ounce
of Parmint (Double strength). Take
this home and add lo it 14 pint of
hot water and a little granulated
sugar; stir until dissolved. Take one
tablespoontul four times a day. This
will often bring quick relief from dis
tressing hend noises. Clogged nos
trils should open, breathing become
easy nnd hearing improve as the In
flammation in the eustachian tubes
is reduced. Parmint used in this way
acts directly upon the blood and mu
cous surfaces of the system and has
a tonic action that helps to obtain
the desired results. The preparation
is easy to make, costs little and is
pleasant to take. Every person who
has catarrh or head noises or is hard
of hearing shouid give this treatment
a trial. Adv.
