Miss Marietta Martin has resigned
her appointment In the Rogue River
school, she having accepted a posi
tion in the Grants Pass schools. Her
cheery personality will be much
missed but she is equally popular in
the Pass where she has( , already
taught.
Mrs. I. L, Gallagher, late principal
at Jacksonville, has been elected to
the vacant position.
Mrs. Ethel Parent who has been
7th and 8th grade teacher in Rogue
River for the last four years, has af
resigned her position here and goes
to Grants Pass as head of the com
mercial department In the hlga
school there, ' She has just secured
her life certificate to teach in Ore
gon upon examination in twenty-four
subjects, being the only teacher In
Jackson county to do so this year.
Her many friends and former pu
pils heartily congratulate her on her
success and on obtaining a congenial
post for which she is specially fitted,
having had previous experience In
business lire. Mrs, Parents' depar
ture is universalis regretted as she
has been most successful in her work
hero and former pupils In Grantu
Pass who passed thru her classes
here will heartily welcome her.
GOLD HILL NUGGETS
Much excitement was caused Moll
day morning when tho fire bell rang
and it was discovered that the living
rooms at the Gold Hill bakery were
on fire. An overheated flue caused
the damage which was slight but had
been very threatening for a time. The
confusion proved the necessity of a
now fire chief as the present one,
C. A. Peterson Is now employed in
Medford.

Ashland Monday evening. She re
ceived word. recestly of "Keani on's
safo arrival overseas.

Missionary Griffin expects to hold
