personal feeling, was the principal
speaker on the day's program. Rival
factions declared a temporary truce.

Fassett, as temporary chairman,
sounded the "keynote" of the con
vention in a patriotic address.
Mr. Fassett asserted that the re
publican party had stood solidly be
hind President Wilson in his war pol
icies and that republican representa
