Looks like the Ashland Rogue River Roundup and An
nual Hyiu Hehe was going to be the biggest thing ever
staged in the west. Besides hundreds of cowboys and
cowgirls from Pendleton, northern California and the Kla
math country, that have captured the six world champion
riders, bulldoggers and ropers, they have congregated
over two hundred head of the wildest bucking and roping
stock to be had.. Some of the horses are so wicked that no
cowboy has ever been able to stick to them, even by pulling
leather. This year the relay races will far exceed anything i
before attempted, and there are six champion strings of '
rangy racers. All of them going for the money will pre
sent the greatest relay contest ever staged.
Ashland is an ideal spot for such a show. . The city has
just expended over two hundred thousand dollars develJ'
oping the mineral waters anti improving "one of the finest
natural parks on the co?A It is a good place to take the
wife and kiddies on tU-e Fourth. There will be ample en
tertainment for ttem, swimming in the warm sulphur
plunges, playing at the big modern children's playground,
witnessing the dazzling parades and the greatest display
of fireworks ever shown outside of the exposition grounds.
4 Ashland says it is prepared to entertain eighty thou
sand visitors this year, and at present writing it looks like
it would get the chance, We are told there is ample room
for two hundred automobiles in the camp grounds and
room for hundreds more along shady Alilani crook.
