As far back as last January the
ladles of the Phoenix Red Cross unit
gathered themselves together und
said ono unto the other, "Let us give
an entertainment this summer for the
benefit of our organization." One ot
the ladies said unto the other, "What
kind of an entertainment shall we
give?" And they all replied us In one
voice, "Let us give a comic opera
with a natural setting In our grove."
They then selocted the opera of
"Mikado" and called on Mr. (ieo. An
drews for advice, and he immediately
assured them that they had struck
on a very wise and novel plan, and
that they had selocted the greatest of
all comic operas. They arranged then
and there for Mr. Andrews to take
charge of the production.
The work of rehearsing and pre
paring for this performance, which
takes place on Thursday evening,
June 27, has been under way for some
months, and the Phoenix ladles feel
certain that this entertainment will
easily take first place with anything
of the kind ever presented in the
valley.
There Is In course of construction
a stage of 40x40 to be decorated and
set with foliage and scenery. The
California Oregon Power company
kindly donated the Juice for Illumin
ating the grove and stage. Paul's
Klectrlc store Is furnishing the
streamer and flood lights, and on
Thursday night this grove and stage
will look like a fairy land.
The company will be gorgeously
costumed. Full orchestra will ac
company the singers. The price of
.10 cents will he the entire charge for
this entertainment.
Catarrhal Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot reach !
the dleeaned portion o( the ear. There la j
on!y one way to cure catarrhal dcafneaa. ;
and that la by a constitutional romeuy. .
Catarrhal Dcafneee la caused by an In
flamed condition of the mucous lining of !
the Eustachian Tube. When this tube Is :
Inllauicd you have a rumbling sound or Im
perfect hearing, and when It Is entirely
closed. Deafness Is the result. Unless the
Inllamtnatlon .can be reduced and this tube
restored to Its normal condition, hearing
will be destroyed forever. Many caaes of
deafness are caused by catarrh, which Is .
an Inflamed condition of the mucous sur
faces. Hall's Catarrh Medicine acts thru I
the blood on the mucous surfaces -of the '
system.
We will give One Hundred Doltara for i
any case of Catarrhal Deafness that cannot
be cured by Hall's Catarrh Medicine. Or- 1

You don't have to fight, you don't have to die.
RTTT
Your son does, or your brother who is now across the way or
the kid now in khaki to whom you used to give pennies a short
time ago.
That money you have laid away for "a rainy day" wouldn't you give every
nickle of it to keep a Hun's knife away from his throat.
Well, the Hun is here, and so is his knife and so is the "rainy day"-it's raining
now, raining bombs and shrapnel on our boys "over there."
June 28th National War Savings Day
On that day the Nation will call upon you, not just your neighbor, but you, to pledge
yourself to the purchase of a certain number of War Saving Stamps during 1918.
