FOLK DANCES
The Page theater was crowded last
night with a delighted audience to
witness the splendid annual exhibi
tion of the physical tralnlns and mu
sical departments of the public
schools In which 700 pupils took
part.
The excellence of every feature of
the big entertainment, which was
given for the henefit of the junior
Red Cross, and the expedition with
which the long program, lasting two
hours and 15 miuntes, was run off,
reflects great credit on those tireless
workers, Miss Jenny Hunter, super
visor of physical training, and Miss
Alleen French, supervisor of music,
who had drilled the pupils and had
charge of the program. Over J 100

Cros
The program was made up of folk
dances, drills, choruses and the like.
Miss Hunter presided back of, the
stage with a number of assistants
and -Miss French conducted the high
school orchestra and had charge of
the musical features. The fine work
of the orchestra added much to the
Pleasure of the occasion.
A number of school principals and
teachers assisted in handling the
hundreds of pupils and in seeing that
the program was run off with clock
like precision. To avoid a conges
tion In the wings and rear of tho
stage the children while wailing their
turns were stationed at the high
school, and each group was sent for
as fast as It was needed on the stage.
Messengers ran hack and forth be
tween the high school and stage,
giving these orders. Misses French
and Hunter devised this system,
which was based on their experience
with last year's similar exhibition at
the Page.
