Matthews and his son William left
for northern California points on a

Last week Mr. Matthews, who has
been In falling health, became very ill
and was removed to the Sisters hos
pital, where he filed Sunday.

county for the past 10 years, having
come here from Beeville. Texas, and

years. Mr. Matthews for several years
drove the freight stnge between Ea
gle Point and Butte Falls. Ha Is
survived by his son. William, of Butte
Falls, and two daughters, Mrs. John
Winnine.ham of Trail, nnd Mrs. Knima
McCuubin of Oakville, Tex.' His wife
died about seven years ago.
Funeral arrangements will be an
