of the north, and tho skill Lynn F.
Reynolds has displayed In directing
"God's Crucible." "Tho End ot the

: stago career.
Hy fur the most uproariously
funny and best acted motion picture
comedy ever shown in Mcdt'ord was
"Hnby Mine," which kept three large
audiences in a continuous state of
laughter at the Hinlto yesterday af
ternoon and evening, and which will
bo shown again this' afternoon and
evening. '
It was n gennino comedy without
horse piny, and each performer in
the cast was an nrlist in acting nnd
facial expression. Altho the plot was
ot n.somcwhnt broad nature, the sub
ject wns handled in such a clever nnd
refined manner that all thought of
suggestion was removed nnd only the
humor of the complicated -situations
nolieed.
Hiss Madge Kennedy will no doubt
prove to he one of the silent art's
most popular slurs if she can keep
up the standard she .establishes in
"Hnby Mine." Tho critic of the New
York Tribune snys of her: "Just when
everyone had about decided in his
iiiiikI whether he preferred Marguev
i(C Clark or Mary l'ickford, along
comes Sludge Kennedy and upsets all
tho calculations. She is sweet, she
is subtle and her style is inimitable."
Dr. ARM. Dow, M.. who is now a
surgeon in tho U. S. army, left Fridny
night for Chicago, stoplng off at
Rochester, Minn., enroute, for a fow
days there to attend the Instructed
congress of surgeons, at Chicago for
instruction and will report at San
Francisco for duty In about thirty
days. Dr. Lydla Dow will practico
at Aledford and the Dow hospital hero
wil cioso temporarily, ur. Mcauinur
of Baker, Ore., will probably succeed
Dr. Mclf. Dow hero as a physician.
