At a meeting of the board of direc-1
tors of the Commercial club last night
It was decided to launch a campaign
to secure $S00 for the national war
community recreation fund which is
being collected throughout the coun
try by the Playground and Recreation
association of America. The nation
al fund is placed at $3,750,000, to be
expended, at the soldiers training
camps -for recreation purposes for trie
draft army of 1,250,000 men,
President C. W. McDonald appoint
ed the following committee to take
charge of this campaign: Dr. J, Law
rence Hill, W. A. Folger, H. C. Gar
nett, A. L. 11111, T. E. Daniels and
Iiev. W. B. Hamilton.
The Greater Medford club will be
asked to assist in the campaign and
appoint a similar committee from
among its members.
This work is considered important
for the moral and physical welfare
of the soldiers, has the endorsement
of President Wilson, and the direc
tors of the club believe that the $800
can be raised without difficulty.

Mr. Evans' disposal and men familiar
with the coal fields In this vicinity
will be on hand to give what facts are
