quit the grocery business and will
close out his stock and fixtures at
once. He has been in the grocery
business in Med ford for the past 11
years. Mr. Olmstead says he has no
other business In view al.the present
time, or reason for discontinuing the
grocery business other than" he just

One of the oddest growing freaks
In the history of tho county Is on ex
hibition In the Commercial club win
dow. It is a watermelon which grew
thru a tomato can and really looks
like two melons grown fnst to the
ends of the can." This freak grew on
the Annie Orphan ranch on Coleman
creek. When the melon was com
paratively young, 15 year old Wesley
Turnbough placed a tomato can, both
of whoso onds were out, against the
melon to protect it from rabbits. The
melon grew thru the can. The Turn
b align boy proudly brought it to the
Commercial club Friday to bo placed
on exhibition.

While Owen Dnnlap of Phoenix
was driving his five-passenger Velle
car down this side of tho Jacksonville
hill Wednesday In somo manner the
car caught fire. Ho stopped at once
and fought the fire In vain for ten
minutes, pouring dirt and dust on
the flameB. Finally when tho fire
got close to the gasoline tank he
abandoned the fight and took to the
tall timber. The car was ruined as
the body, wheels and tires were de
stroyed. It Is thought that the fire
started in the muffler from Boot. It
had gained considerable headway he
