The deer hunting season will close
October 15 and It Is anticipated that
between now nnd that date there will
bo a flood ot hunting storlos, which
so far this year, unlike In former
years, have been conspicuously "ab
sent. Up to dato tho season has been
a dismal failure. Many hunters have
gnno to tho hills and scoured them
thoroly but returned empty handed.
The chief draw bucks to tho season
havo been tho excessive dryness, tho
smoko from tho forest fires and the
temporary closing of tho season at
times. It Is only occasionally that
ono hears of some one bringing In a
buck. However, a few hard rains may
make tho season wind up in a blaze
ot glory. 1
