The Inst spray recommendations
issued recommended 'Unit spraying:
Bhould be consummated by the 2oth
of August. It is now time for another
spray and it should be on the trees
by the i 15th of this month which
makes nn interval of about three
weeks. ' At this time it is not safe
to have : an interval greater than
three weeks because ilif 1he rapid
growth 'of the, fruit, thus exposing
new unsprayed surfaces, Those who
have varied from the schedule should
follow the rule of keeping- the fruit
covered. Eggs are 'still being' laid
and egg laying will continue until the
evening temperatures iall below sixty
degrji's which from present indica
tions will not be for some time.
. One step towards reducing the
worms for the eoming year is to gath
er all fallen fruit as soon as each
tree is picked and- remove it from
the orchard. It should he disposed
of by feeding it to hogs, seeling it to
the cannery or vinegar factory, it
fissible, rather than leaving it to rot.

boys at Fort Columbia of the receipt
of the organ sent recently by the local
Soldiers' Auxiliary. The organ has
four octaves, a splendid tone, with a
depth of volume and Is light and com
pact, easily carried.
It Is used to great advantage In
the Sunday morning services and one
of the letters received from a member
of the company spoke of tho Susday
afternoon Impromptu concert when
all the boys sang to their hearts' con
tent. Tho chaplain of the company
expresses his special appreciation for
the Instrument, with which many
otherwise lonely hours can be whlled
away.
